Cute Two Yen Stamp Released in Japan
Due to a consumption tax increase in April 2014, post offices in Japan have started to sell new postcards and stamps. It now costs 52 yen to mail a postcard, where as before it was only 50 yen. Mailing letters has also gone up from 80 yen to 82 yen. It has been approximately 20 years since the last time postage fees went up. However, many new stamps have been released to fill in the postage gap. The 2 yen stamp is especially growing in popularity because the rabbit design is so cute. Can this cute rabbit stamp save the Japanese postcard from its dwindling sales? Only time can tell.
