Have you tried “Melon-Pan (Bun)”?  Melon-Buns are made from an enriched dough which are then covered in a thin layer of crisp cookie dough. Their appearance resembles a melon, such as a rock melon (cantaloupe). They are not traditionally melon flavored,  but in recent times it has become popular for manufacturers to add melon to melon bread. (by wiki)   One of the Japanese bread companies, Yamazaki Pan, started to sell only the “skin” part of Melon bun.  The skin part refers to the bread crust and has a crunchy texture. Have you ever found your favourite part of a specific food, such as the skin on your KFC chicken, the crunchy part of your pizza crust for example?  Melon Bun Crusts were sold only in Kansai area, however it has started to sell all over Japan(except Hokkaido) since it has been gaining in popularity.  Another Bread company, Fuji Pan, also started to sell “Melon Bun Crusts”.
